A perfect Sunday with... Soo Lee

Avacado toast, the work of friends and giving Better Call Saul their flowers

A perfect Sunday with... Soo Lee

Every week, a top writer, artist, actor or creator reveals how they’d fill their perfect Sunday, sharing their favourite comfort reads, movies, food… anything that would make their weekend great.

Today, it's the turn of Camilla and Star Wars: Tales From the Nightlands comic artist, Soo Lee!

Soo's perfect Sunday… brunch

As an aging millennial, I do enjoy avocado toast. (Which I am currently eating as I write this.) I'm from NYC so our toast game is strong and they typically come with some variation of a pickled vegetable. If I'm feeling like really treating myself, it would be a nice big French toast, hold the powdered sugar. Oh, and gotta have a big cup of coffee with oat milk to wash it all down.

Soo's perfect Sunday… read

I'm embarrassed to say I don't really have time to read nowadays. But I have been meaning to read specifically Chapter 7, The Captain's Log in Bram Stoker's Dracula. I wish there was an expanded book just about that part. I've been obsessed with the story and concept of it.

Soo's perfect Sunday comic

I'll mention some of  my friends books because I think these are some of the best stuff out there.

I'm being brief but so many of my friends are doing incredible work!

Soo's perfect Sunday... movie

Anything PT Anderson. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread being a very close second.

Soo's perfect Sunday... TV binge

Better Call Saul is one of my favorite shows ever so I have to give them their flowers. But when I'm in the mood, every couple of years I will binge the original Sex and The City and Mad Men.

Soo's perfect Sunday… podcast

I don't listen to podcasts much unless my friends send me random episodes of shows to listen to. But I am a masochist so I need to get my political news everyday, so I watch Twitch streams for political commentary by Majority Report and Hasan Piker

Soo's perfect Sunday… album

I don't usually listen to specific albums but I do have a very eclectic Spotify playlist. Seriously, it's nonsensical. But some of my favorite comforts are music from the 60's and 70's.

Soo's perfect Sunday… treat

I may have had a more light hearted answer if I was asked this last year because my mom now has cancer and I've become her caretaker in-between working, so life is pretty hectic and I don't have time for many treats nowadays. So Sundays are actually the days where it's the most quiet at home and I get to settle in, get in the zone and really get a lot of my work done. It's one of my favorite days to unwind and make some art. Oh, and with a nice big cup of coffee with oat milk if course.

Carmilla Vol 3: The Eternal drawn by Soo Lee is out now from Dark Horse.

The final chapter of this Bram Stoker Award-winning graphic novel reimagination of Sheridan LeFanu's classic Carmilla!

Athena's daughter Ella journeys to Oxford, England where a mysterious university benefactor hires her for what seems like a simple research position, but leads her straight into the heart of danger...and the Lo family back into the complicated web of Carmilla herself. As deaths begin to pile up on campus, Ella becomes entangled with a secret supernatural society of hard partying immortals. And just as Athena once did, Ella is about to discover some family secrets of her own...

A seductive, supernatural thriller about mortality and mother/daughter relationships.

Soo Lee is a Cartoonist and Illustrator residing in New York City. Previous work includes the Bram Stoker Award Winning Carmilla and Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands #1, working with Cavan Scott.
