Secrets, spies, Star Wars Celebration and much, much more

Friday update: 31st March 2023

Hello there! Every other Friday, I post an update that gives you a round-up of my work, things you might have missed only and a few recommendations too! Let’s dive in!

Behind-the-scenes

This is going to be one of those annoying moments when I can’t actually share much at all about what I’ve been doing these last two weeks, mainly because the projects haven’t been announced yet.

Can I give any hints? Hmmm. Probably not, but I’ll risk the wrath of the Empire by saying they’re both Star Wars related… and they’re connected. We’re still in the outlining stage, and I’ll be submitting the first treatment today, with the outline for the second project heading in before I leave for Star Wars Celebration early next week.

I’ve probably said too much already, so I’ll shut up and post a picture of my favourite mug I bought at the last Star Wars Celebration instead.

Too soon for Aunt Beru jokes? Naah!

(And talking of mugs, have you shared yours on our Mug Shot thread in the chat yet? I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours!👇)

Things you might have missed

Fan Art Friday

Celebration is nearly upon us, and my full schedule can be found here including the High Republic Cosplay meet-up. This is rapidly becoming one of my favourite Celebration traditions. (Is it a tradition if we’ve only done two so far? I vote for yes!) This year, we’re meeting at 5.30pm on Saturday at the West Entrance.

As I said in my last update, one of the joys has been seeing costumes come together online, including this majestic Avar Kriss by Marie Bernadette who posts as @sewmuchlife on Instagram.

Stunning!

I need lots of photos of High Republic cosplayers at Celebration. If you see me, come and say hi and let me grab a selfie with you! We are all the Republic!

Stuff I love and think you might too

Little Eve by Catriona Ward blew me away when I read it earlier this year so I was so grateful when Catriona sent me the arc of Looking Glass Sound.

Wow. Just wow.

I can guarantee it’s unlike anything you’ve read, with stories built on stories built on stories. And the twist at the end sends you scurrying back through the novel to find messages hidden in the text. My blood literally ran cold when I saw them. Don’t miss this one.

That’s all, folks

Right, I better start thinking about what I’m taking to London next week.

In the meantime, after the appearance of Grogu and Moon in my last round-up, I better end with a picture of our third Guinea, Wicket.

Here’s the little fluffball…

Hmmm. That’s all three of our pets showcased now. Perhaps I’ll have to start signing off my updates with pictures of your animal chums! What do you think?

Until next time, please share this newsletter with anyone you think would enjoy it! I’m really enjoying the community we’re building here and would love to see it grow!

Stay safe!
