Introducing my next Marvel project, Iron & Frost

Hello there!

How are you doing?

My unexpectedly busy period continues – best filed under 'don't complain about it'!

That said, it means I have been neglecting you all a bit, so apologies about that!

Work has continued on Project Vermin, my 160-page graphic novel adaptation, and last week saw a significant rethink and subsequent rewrite of Project Mystic, one of the TV shows I'm currently pitching with George Mann and another writer friend of ours. Another TV opportunity also landed in our laps, something that came out of the blue, but required immediate action (so out of the blue, in fact, that it hasn't even made it onto my list of top-secret codenames. Need to think about that. Project Fieldtrip, maybe?)

Looking at the project list, we also received the draft pitch deck for another of our animation proposals (Project Teacup) and concept art from none other than High Republic artist Jake Bartok for Project Quill, an exciting new fantasy universe George and I are conjuring up together!

Actually... that may be the first time I've mentioned that Jake is involved! New information! Don't say I never tell you anything. Hmmm. Perhaps we'll share some of the art for that sooner rather than later. Watch this space!

But for now, I have actual news of actual projects with actual names that I can actually share! I know! Who would've thunk it?

Keep reading to find out more!

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR IRON & FROST

The news dropped yesterday about my next Marvel superhero mini-series.

Iron & Frost is part of the X-Men Age of Revelation event that is hurtling towards the Marvel universe this autumn.

As the title suggests, the story reunites Tony Stark's Iron Man with Emma Frost, who made a memorable – if unexpected – couple in Gerry Duggan's brilliant Invincible Iron Man run.

Here's the chilling cover by Ryan Brown, along with the solicitation:

COLD AS FROST, HARD AS IRON!

X YEARS LATER, after 3K's devastating terrorist attack cost Tony Stark and Emma Frost everything, the Heartless Queen returns to what remains of her past.

Secrets hide in the ruins of New York.

The Hellfire Club has a dangerous new leader.

I'm really excited to be teaming up with the incredible Ruiarí Coleman of New Champions fame for the mini-series. Raurí has now completed issue one and will be delivering the thumbnails for issue 2 any day now, and his work has been 👨🏻‍🍳 😘. We just seemed to get each other from day one, Ruiarí making suggestions that immediately took the story to new heights. Such a brilliant start to the collaboration.

And it's all under the watchful eye of brilliant editor Danny Khazem, who I first worked with on Star Wars: The High Republic.

If you want to find out more about Danny, then check out his Perfect Sunday!

A perfect Sunday with...Danny Khazem
Shakshuka, Robots in Disguise and smooth, funky fun!

Issue one of Iron & Frost lands October 15th (and, if you were wondering, was originally listed as Project Sovereign on my list of codenames)

I'LL KILL YOU LAST KICKSTARTER NOW LIVE

I'll Kill You Last, editor Cullen Bunn's action horror anthology, is now live on Kickstarter and needs your help to get funded.

My short story Devil Three Zero is the first in the collection, and can be explained as Top Gun meets Gremlins!

Here's the collection's blurb:

Do you love the high-octane action movies of the 80s? Larger than life heroes! One liners! Car chases! Big guns! Bigger muscles! Muscle car chases with even bigger guns!

Do you love bloodcurdling terror? Vampires! Demons! Werewolves! Demonic vampires who turn into werewolves by the light of the full moon!

Do you bleed Cannon films? Do you bleed horror?

If so, this is the anthology for you!

Everything in the collection is ready to go, the stories written and edited, and the book designed. All we need are backers to help fund it!

Head over to the I'll Kill You Last campaign and choose your perk today!

FRANKENSTEIN, AUSTEN AND BATH BUNS

The frantic nature of the last couple of weeks has meant that I haven't been blogging as much, but I did manage to take a day out to catch up with my High Republic co-creator, Claudia Gray, as she visited the UK.

You can read more about our exploits in Bath below, including somewhere I've been meaning to visit for ages: The House of Frankenstein!

COSMIC LIGHTHOUSE-A-GO-GO

My good friend Paul Cornell has started a comics company, and the first book out of the gate is by none other than Adrian Tchaikovsky!

Cosmic Lighthouse's mission is to publish original graphic novels by bestselling SFF authors in their existing universes. No ghost writers. These authors will be writing their own comics – and in this case, Adrian is teaming up with the mighty Mike Collins!

Here's what Paul says on his blog:

Salvation’s Child is the digital graphic novel Prologue to Adrian Tchaikovsky’s best-selling SFF novel series The Final Architecture. It’s by Adrian himself, artist Mike Collins, colour artist Pippa Bowland and letterer Simon Bowland. We’re publishing it together with our partners ComiXology.

It’s 110 pages of comics, plus extras, at what we think is quite the wonderful price.

Check out these pre-order links at Amazon US and Amazon UK.

I can't wait to pick it up!

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW, FOLKS

Right, there's a grindstone with my name on it! I'd better get back to it.

Until next time, look after yourself and each other!
