Taking the plunge and painting my first miniature!

New hobby alert!

I’ve always been too nervous to paint miniatures, but George Mann has been encouraging me to get started for a while now.

Recently, I took the plunge, although tackling something tiny still gave me palpitations.

So, I decided to go bigger and picked up a hill giant figure.

Guided by George, I set about with a primer basecoat and a little drybrushing, before reaching for the speedpaints as a way to ease myself gently into the hobby.

She's a bit rough around the edges, and if you look closely, there's definitely some touching up and finishing up to do, but I'm pretty happy with my first effort, all things considered.

Next up, I'm going even bigger rather than smaller with the Masters of the Universe Battleground Castle Grayskull dice tower.

Once done, then maybe... just maybe... I'll be brave enough to start my first mini, which I've already dry-brushed.

That's Naragarth, my character from our current campaign. We're playing Call From The Deep, with George behind the Dungeon Master's screen. He's a Warlock faun with a past full of regrets, and I want to get just a little better with the brush before giving him some colour.

Do you dabble in miniature painting? Let me know in the comments! I'm also up for any advice you can give this noob!
